Leo Balazs was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta, the son of immigrant parents from Hungary and Iraq. after being Interviewed as a child on TV at Wayne Gretzky’s wedding Leo first felt the excitement of being on camera. Having a rebellious and fun loving nature as a child, Leo was often misunderstood by a serious hard working family.
During his teens Leo found refuge in acting at the age of 13, he started professional Theater at the Citadel, after meeting best friend and actor Ron Pederson (who went on to star on Mad TV) in drama class who inspired him to go forward with his dreams. after a reference Letter was written by his drama teacher from Holy Family junior high, Leo was sought after to perform in high school theater and interestingly studied under Hollywood Actor, Nathan Fillion’s Mother, an English teacher at Holy Trinity high school after a failed relationship at the age of 21 Leo yearned to understand human Behavior and why we do the things we do and went on to study psychology and sociology at the University of Alberta and MacEwan University.
Feeling the pressure he wound up working for the post office, Feeling unfulfilled at this career choice, he felt the pull to move to Vancouver BC and studied at the highly sought-after acting school Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts. After signing with his first agent in 2014, Leo booked a Lead role on his first audition on the TV show untold stories of the ER, he has not looked back since landing lead roles on the TV/series pilot “sold”, a winning Tip Top commercial, also working alongside with award winning Directors in Film Festival short films.
A proud moment in his fresh career is when friend and actor Travis MacDonald and former costar of Leonardo DiCaprio from “this boys life” called Vancouver’s top Acting agency Carrier Talent to set up a meeting. They quickly signed the energetic actor to his first big contract, since then Leo has been cast in 3 upcoming feature films, one is due in Theaters worldwide this October.
